I started Calliope's Collective as a personal response to a challenging period of time, one we are not likely to forget: COVID-19 social distancing. Lacking outside contact and inspiration I dug inward for creativity. Feeling stifled and unsatisfied I dug outward to grow up and away from my complacency (and a tragic fear of spiders.)
With a trowel and a college assignment to find hope, I set to forming a garden from a seed. Through learning how to germinate I found a friend in the Earth and the determination to share the process with other growth-minded people, like yourself.
Calliope was one of the nine famed muses of ancient Greece, it is by no coincidence that Calliope is also my late grandmother's name. Raising her family in a handbuilt two-room home in a mountain village in Greece meant life was anything but convenient.
This village is a stunning place of freedom and calm removed from modern trappings. It is where my father's roots grew, a proud Greek, he wishes life could be that simple again.
Me too, dad.
To honor the passion uncovered in my writing, to pay homage to an old-world lifestyle and the grit of my heritage, I'm finding roots of my own with a borrowed name from a deeply familiar woman called Calliope.
My own muse.
Stay awhile and get comfortable. I'll walk through the process of growing food from scratch and share wisdom along the way.
My insights and personal narratives are located in the Thought Catalog.
For fresh and non-invasive updates, join my email list!
I look forward to sharing my journey with you.
